I finally have a reason to post again: Kevin.

What is up with this whole vigilante justice theme on the show this year? It’s ok to attack/kill/kidnap someone if they were bad. All you have to do is lie to the police, and go about your business. Lauren and Michael did it with Sheila/Phyllis, and now it’s Kevin and Colleen. What a great role model for all the school-aged kids watching over summer break. While I’m on the subject, that whole Kevin-Jana flashback thing was completely unnecessary.

What kind of guy calls himself “Plum”? What is this, Clue?? Professor Plum was killed in the ballroom with a candlestick!

I still really hate the Easy-Off BAM commercial. It makes me want to poke myself in the eye.

So, anyone want to place a bet on how long we can go before Daniel does something else stupid? I’m sure therapy is helping him make better judgement calls, but it can’t raise your IQ, which is his problem.

Please, for the LOVE of all that’s holy, reveal who Adrian really is already!

Jana has a brain tumor. Right. Blame it on the tumor. It wasn’t her fault! What about her dear departed daddy who made her do that stuff? Whatever, I’m so over her.

WTF???

What the hell was up with that girl in the campaign gear at the restaurant today? How random was that???!!!

Winners!

We only won 3 tonight, but one of them was the BIG one, so it was all worth it.

Good Night.

Oscar gets an Emmy!

June 16, 2007 by Courtney

I could not be more excited to see Oscar the Grouch get an Emmy. I think Oscar was the best dressed, too, as his trashy tux included a wilted boutonnière! Awesome.

Live Blogging: Emmys

We’re 30 minutes into the show, and Rachel Ray is already on my last nerve. I wish she’d take a Valium or something, or take 10 less espresso shots before the show.

No awards for Y&R yet, but I’m not super-surprised. Based on the clips presented, they were from a while back. Next year I predict we will have a lot more nominations, seeing that many of the characters have had one of the key moments that gets you nominated (IMO):

A screaming match
A near death experience
Dealing with an injury/disease
Playing an evil version of yourself
Mourning the death of a loved one

I predict that Victoria Rowell (Dru) will be up for one next year. Heck, she’ll probably win!

Wouldn’t it be fun if they became allies now, thanks to Nikki? I think so.

Total Nominations: 18

The awards will have fan-involvement this year. The fans will be ON STAGE. Not everyone is thrilled about this. This is Peter Bergman’s comment, from the linked article:

“Just presenting, you could be accosted. Lucky me…it ends up being almost silliness. It’s not how I want to celebrate a career achievement.”

I know fans can be insane, but I doubt any of them are going to rush the stage. Still, I having the fans on the stage seems a bit much. Isn’t the insane screaming from the fans in the audience each year enough?

Who are you, Woodswoman?

You have no phone, no car, and yet you have a perfect manicure. She certainly has her priorities straight.

How old are they really?

June 7, 2007 by Courtney

I was reading up on some of the history of the show today at a great website (http://www.allsoapscoops.com) and noticed that there have been a lot of births and miscarriages on this show, almost every year! I’ve always been irritated by how this show has children go away (usually to Europe) and come back as teenagers or adults, whichever is convenient. How old are they REALLY? I did some research, and this is what I found out:

Victoria Newman: born in 1983. Current Real Age: 24.

Nicholas Newman: born in 1989. Current Real Age: 18!

Noah Newman: born in 1997. Current Real Age: 10. Until they decide to send him to Switzerland.

Lily Winters: born in 1995. Current Real Age:  12.

Daniel Romalotti: born in 1994. Current Real Age: 13. Aw, they really are two young kids in love.
Colleen Carlton: born in 1992. Current Real Age: 15. Wow, that professor really IS robbing the cradle!

Victor Newman, Jr.: born in 1995. Current Real Age: 12. He’s a bit young to be running around the world like that!

Philip Chancellor III: born in 1976. Wow, he’s 31. That actually makes sense!

Phillip Chancellor IV: born in 1993. Real Age: 14.  Where are you, Little Phillip?

I know that soap opera time is not relevant to reality, but this stuff never fails to amuse me.

For all of you vintage Y&R fans, a rare treat: this is the opening from the first episode of Y&R in 1973! Enjoy!

What in tarnation was he thinking? and other thoughts…

William Bardwell must be the dumbest man on earth to marry Gloria that fast. I don’t even sense any chemistry between them. This whole thing is so dumb I can’t stand it.

On that subject, I don’t think Gloria can take two steps without stepping into trouble. I’m surprised her sons haven’t turned her in by now.

Paul and Maggie’s discussions are nothing but double-entendres. Can’t these two have a normal conversation about anything without resorting to sexual innuendo?

When the heck will Nick rise from the dead?

I’m not liking Nikki’s new bitchy personality, but she looks so cute in that haircut, I have to forgive her. A little.

Victoria needs to fish or cut bait, as far as JT is concerned. Also, she is beginning to “show”, despite the blousy dress she was wearing on Monday. I wonder how they’ll cover it up? Maybe a long trip to Europe?
